SNARLING, 3-meter “hairy men” could be roaming bushland near you. Yowie researchers, including cryptozoologist Rex “The Yowie Man” Gilroy, are investigating sightings near Lismore and Casino. Known as the “Bigfoot of the Bush,” Yowies are believed to be a primitive, ape-like species. Mr. Gilroy and his wife Heather, founders of the Australian Yowie Research Centre (est. 1976), continue to gather evidence in hopes of scientific validation. The team is now turning its attention to the Northern Rivers region following multiple recent reports.

The Yowie is a legendary creature said to inhabit the remote wilderness areas of Australia, particularly in the Blue Mountains and other forested regions. It is commonly described as:

Ape-like or human-like

Standing between 6 to 10 feet tall (1.8 to 3 meters)
